Recently Snapplify was honoured with an invite from Nokia to demonstrate leading innovation at this year’s Open Innovation Summit in Kenya, which took place on 28 May. The idea behind the competition was to come up with ‘societal, structural, financial and technological’ ideas that could foster innovation leadership in Africa. The competition is aimed at stimulating the innovation debate in Africa, to facilitate inclusive socio-economic growth and transformation.

This month’s AngelHub Founders Dinner was hosted at Tjing Tjing. This unique, urban rooftop bar is located in the heart of Cape Town’s CBD, around the corner from the ever popular Long Street. The building itself is almost 200 years old and boasts an eccentric blend of old and new.

Snapplify, our new mobile Startup was entered into the Cape Town Entrepreneurial Competition (CTEC) which forms part of LaunchCapeTown, the event that brings together startups, entrepreneurs, and digital tastemakers. After a tough nomination round, Snapplify was announced as one of three finalists. Finalists received two days of mentorship from international startup mentors and judges. Winners were announced on Sunday and Snapplify came first in Growth Stage. It was exciting to bag our first major award as winning the competition was no easy task. The team put in a lot of hard work and effort and it was such an incredibly proud moment for for everyone.
