Yesterday Gmail rolled out a new way to compose and reply to emails. I happened to be reading and replying to a few mails when the the new features started rolling out, so I got to experience first hand how the new system works.Composing a new email now opens a popup window with a more streamlined approach to sending emails. Its similar to how GTalk has always worked within Gmail. What's great is that this means I can flip between my inbox emails while composing a new one, something that I really missed when using a web based email interface vs a desktop client.

This year was the 5th annual E-Tourism Event in Cape Town, an event that brings hundreds of destinations and travel suppliers, members of the hospitality industry, and others of the thriving tourism sector in South Africa, together to discuss technology and tourism. The major focus of this year’s event was to educate how social media is used to leverage online bookings; and also for those in the industry to sample the latest online and mobile technology available. Five years ago the panel of speakers were urging these same collectives just to get their businesses online.
