The ScaleConf is a two-day conference taking place in Cape Town at the famous, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens on the 26 and 27 January 2012. Being the first conference of its kind to hit our shores, expectations are high; although with a fantastic local and international line up it seems they are ready for the challenge.

The creative duo behind this venture is Jonathan Hitchcock and Duncan Phillips. These two had a vision to bring a world-class DevOps culture to South Africa and they made it happen. Jonathan explains, “While in the US I had attended some great technical conferences, and I wanted to bring that level of quality to South Africa.”

Focus Area

The focus will be around the issues companies and individuals are having with building and running services on the internet and the methods used to develop the strong foundations that are needed to operate websites and services. A few of the areas being covered at the event will include Configuration Management, Infrastructure as Code, Monitoring and Metrics, Continuous Deployment and Virtualisation.
