Brief

Property24.com required a Facebook application to measure their “Clicks for Bricks” social project. For every fan of Property24’s Facebook Page, they will sponsor R5 towards building a home in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity. The cost of one home is R91 000, and once 18,200 fans are reached, Property24.com will build the home. The Facebook application needed to measure how close Property24.com was to building this house by tracking fan growth, and incorporating an illustrated design for the development process of the house.

Our Solution

We built this application using Facebook Platform, a CMS developed by Realmdigital. Once a person clicks "like" on the Propety24.com  Facebook page, it increases the number of fans. The growth of fans is being tracked by a “Property24 fan meter.” This meter, which looks similar to a measuring tape, simultaneously grows as the number of fans increase.

Above the meter, we developed an illustrated version of the house that was going to be built. The stages of the house also changed according to the progress meter. The illustrated design of the house needed to update as the fans increased. With no fans, the design was just a basic foundation, but now with over 2500 fans, the house has a foundation and some bricks. Once the fan page reaches 18,200 fans, the design will be a fully completed house. All these changes are taking place automatically and concurrently.

The client also requested an embedded video on the Facebook Page. This video was about Habitat for Humanity and their volunteers, who shared their experiences on the various projects Habitat for Humanity is involved in.

This campaign needed to go viral and fast. Therefore, we implemented a Share button that allowed fans to share this information with their network of friends.

As this pop-up only appears on a fan's wall and their friends' newsfeeds, we went one step further with implementing functionality that allowed Property24.com's fans to send a request to their friends to "like" this page. Fans could choose to send this request to just a few friends or their entire selection of friends. This request then appeared in their inbox.

Strategy

This application was developed using Facebook Platform, a CMS that allows the client to manage and edit their Facebook applications. We had regular meetings and strategy sessions with the client, advising them on best practices throughout the development process, and also ensuring their every need was taken care of.
